The following general terms and conditions ("T&C") apply to the browsing and use of the Paideia Hosting website at https://paideiahosting.net and its associated shop at https://shop.paideiahosting.net. These T&C govern the legal relationship with the services offered therein.

The mere access to the website by a user implies full acceptance of these T&C, as well as our Privacy Policy.

USER: the person who accesses and browses the website with an interest in obtaining the services offered by PAIDEIA HOSTING.
PAIDEIA HOSTING: the hosting and technology brand operated by Paideia Publishing Services LLC, offering managed hosting services for academic software platforms (OJS, OMP, OPS, DSpace, Dataverse, AtoM, WordPress), cloud infrastructure (VPS), and related technical services to the academic and research sector.

Purpose of the website

The website is oriented toward offering the USER comprehensive managed hosting services, including server administration, technical support, subscription management, and infrastructure consulting for academic publishing platforms.

Acceptance of the T&C

All legal content expressed in these T&C and their future modifications are binding for any person who browses the website. Use and browsing implies knowledge and acceptance of what is expressed herein. If you do not agree with the T&C, you must cease your browsing.

You must be at least 18 years old (or the minimum equivalent age in your country) and have the legal capacity to accept these T&C.

Use of the website

Use of the website is the exclusive responsibility of the user, who must use it in accordance with the functionalities permitted on the site and applicable legislation. Users agree not to carry out, directly or indirectly, commercial exploitation of the site's content without prior written authorization from PAIDEIA HOSTING.

Dispute resolution process

Users who have a conflict in any process within the site may initiate an internal dispute resolution process by contacting: [email protected]. PAIDEIA HOSTING will observe best practices to resolve the matter and will issue a reasoned decision.

Indemnity

Users agree to hold the website harmless from any type of claim, liability, loss, expenses, technical and legal fees, or requests for information arising from non-compliance with these terms and conditions.

Intellectual property

All intellectual property rights — including trademarks, patents, copyrights, designs, logos, drawings, and icons — are the property of Paideia Publishing Services LLC, except for contents explicitly licensed under CC-BY, which may be distributed and reused in accordance with the terms of that license.

Prohibited use

The user agrees to use the website legitimately and is prohibited from using it in connection with:

  • Any activity that violates applicable regulations
  • Any content or product that infringes intellectual or industrial property rights
  • Violent content or content that incites hatred, intimidation, or abuse of any kind
  • Any other activity that PAIDEIA HOSTING may consider unacceptable

1. Paideia Hosting

Paideia Hosting is a managed hosting and technology brand operated by Paideia Publishing Services LLC, offering services primarily to the academic, scientific publishing and research sector. Hosted platforms include OJS, OMP, OPS, DSpace, Dataverse, AtoM, WordPress, and custom VPS infrastructure.

2. Terms and conditions

These T&C regulate the relationship between Paideia Hosting and the people who use its services ("Users"). Users accept these T&C from the moment they register on the site or use any of the services or products offered.

3. Capacity

Our services may be used by adults who have the legal capacity to enter into contracts.

4. Registration and account

Anyone wishing to use our services must complete the registration form accurately and truthfully. The account is personal, unique and non-transferable. The user is solely responsible for all operations carried out in their account. In the event of detecting unauthorized use, they must immediately notify Paideia Hosting.

5. Data privacy

At Paideia Hosting we make responsible use of personal information and take the necessary measures to guarantee security on our platform. Learn more in our Privacy Policy.

6. Sanctions

If the user fails to comply with a law or these T&C, we may warn, suspend, restrict or temporarily or permanently disable their account, without prejudice to other applicable sanctions.

7. Pricing and subscriptions

Paideia Hosting charges for its services and the user agrees to pay for them on time. Prices may be modified at any time.

Services are offered under monthly or annual subscription plans. Upon subscribing, the user authorizes automatic renewal at the end of each billing cycle, unless the subscription is canceled at least 5 business days before the next renewal date. Cancellations must be communicated in writing to [email protected].

Any quote provided is valid for 7 days unless otherwise explicitly stated.

Accepted payment methods: Stripe (credit and debit card), PayPal, and bank transfers (WISE).

Refund policy: given the nature of managed hosting services and the infrastructure provisioning involved, payments are generally non-refundable. In cases of service failure attributable exclusively to Paideia Hosting, a service credit may be offered at our discretion.

8. Content and distribution

Paideia Hosting distributes its public content under the CC BY license. Not all content is openly accessible.

9. Services

Paideia Hosting is committed to providing hosting and technical services according to professional standards. Response to incidents, queries and suggestions on business days is made within 72 business hours, unless an explicit additional support contract exists.

9.a — Technical support priority levels

  • Level A — 24 to 72 business hours: critical incidents that prevent access, use or availability of the platform.
  • Level B — 3 to 4 business days: incidents affecting operational activity where the problem has been accurately identified.
  • Level C — 5 to 7 business days: incidents that do not affect operational activity, where the problem has been accurately identified.
  • Level D — 8 to 15 business days: incidents requiring exhaustive review for their resolution.

All plans include daily backups of files, databases and associated configurations. Retention periods vary by plan (minimum 5 days, up to 15 days). Paideia Hosting is not responsible for data loss caused by actions taken by the contracting party.

9.b — Hosted platforms

Paideia Hosting provides managed hosting for: OJS / OMP / OPS, DSpace, Dataverse, AtoM, WordPress, and VPS infrastructure (Lightsail and EC2, AWS-based). Platform upgrades, plugin management, and customization work beyond standard hosting are additional services quoted separately. Paideia Hosting is not responsible for content published on hosted platforms.

9.c — Access credentials

Paideia Hosting works with security standards to protect client information but is not responsible for data loss or leaks caused by cybersecurity attacks or human error. Once the service ends, users must change or revoke the access credentials granted for its execution.

9.d — Third-party integrations

When performing integrations with external platforms (e.g., Cloudflare, Google services, email providers), Paideia Hosting will determine from which account the integration is carried out to facilitate delivery of the contracted work. The responsibility for the use of this data is the exclusive responsibility of the contracting client.

10. Indemnity

The user will hold Paideia Hosting harmless, as well as those who direct, succeed, administer, represent and/or work in it, for any administrative or judicial claim initiated by other users, third parties or any organization, related to services or products offered by Paideia Hosting.

11. Jurisdiction and applicable law

These terms and conditions are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, United States. Any dispute arising from their application, interpretation, execution or validity shall be resolved by the competent courts of the State of Delaware, United States.
